Emily, if you want your daughter to really understand the homeless, have her leave her bicycle chained up outside overnight and then explain to her what happened to it in the morning. She can have the same feeling of violation and outrage that I felt 10 years ago when the last car that I owned in Manhattan was completely destroyed after a homeless person tried to disable the alarm by ripping out the electrical system in order to get a worthless bag of clothes.
Or that I felt when they repeatedly relieved themselves in the front hall of my apartment building. Or when one of them assaulted me in front of an ATM machine, or when Unfortunately, no place that has a large population of liberals is immune from their idiocies, and Santa Monica and Venice on the West Coast are held in the same thrall to politically correct ideologies about people who are so incapable of handling their own lives that they endanger not only themselves, but everyone around them.
