A woman convicted of running prostitution services out of two massage parlors she owned in Redwood City on Tuesday was sentenced to 90 days in county jail and three years probation, according to District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe.
Ting Sun, 30, of Milpitas, was expected to be sentenced on Monday, but did not appear in court, stating she thought the sentencing was scheduled the following day, prosecutors said. The court took a bench warrant under submission and continued the case to the following day. The investigation began when a plainclothes detective entered the Aurora Spa seeking a massage and was solicited for sex by Tse, Wagstaffe said.
An undercover operation at the New Spa led to similar results with Zheng. Both establishments were later shut down. Three felony counts of procuring a person for prostitution were dropped during the jury trial in June because of missing witnesses. At the time, prosecutors were seeking up to six months in jail.
