If the reason you don't date is because you don't have time to go out and put yourself where people are, though, it's hardly the fault of the population of the city. That's not specific to KC, that's everywhere.
You have to be proactive in meeting people, especially once you are out of the school bubble. I'm 29 and just got divorced and I have definitely noticed that things can be a little rough out there on the singles scene. I've met plenty of single 22 year olds but they practically stink of what I've coined "Midwestern Biological Clock Syndrome". I thought I'd have no problem meeting women coming off of their "starter marriages" but alas, I didn't consider that almost all of them have kids!

For example, in a city as big as Houston women seemed very guarded and much much less friendly. KC has more friendly easy going women, I think they are easier to approach and start a conversation with whether that's a bar or the grocery store.
Also, in bigger richer cities like Houston or Dallas you are going to meet even more women that are more interested in your income than your quality as a human. In the young professional circles that I have spent time with KC had the same number of married people as the other 3 cities.
