The city said it is working with local and Georgia prosecutors to file charges against the year-old boy. The charges would be terroristic threat, a third-degree felony. The high school was cleared and no explosive devices were found following a police investigation, the Georgetown Police Department said. The district said it received a call Wednesday morning from police about the threat.
Police said this was because a man had called stating he had placed explosive devices at Georgetown High School. Once GPD arrived, police and the Georgetown ISD administration decided to evacuate the school and secure students already on the scene at a safe and cleared location nearby.
According to an initial post on Facebook , GPD said no one was allowed inside the high school until the investigation was completed. Georgetown ISD said all entrances to the campus were completely blocked. After the school was evacuated, Georgetown Police and GISD staff began searching the school looking for anything suspicious or out of the ordinary.
According to the press release, during the search, staff identified three things that seemed out of place. One of those items then appeared unusual enough, that out of an abundance of caution, the Austin Police Department Bomb Squad was called to evaluate the device and it was determined to not be an explosive device. GPD said along with the Texas Rangers, they are actively investigating the source of the bomb threat and pursuing all leads.
