From the checkpoint soldier who detains Amiry's husband because his wife was staring at the soldier, to the others who violently arrest demonstrators, she shows how petty and downright insecure and even silly the boys and little men and some women of the mightiest army in the Middle East can be in their encounters with the civilian population of the occupied territories.
