The Congo is still called Zaire and is under the rule of the dictator Mobutu. In addition to absurd dialogues and an abundance of narrative threads and digressions, it is above all the music that sets the rhythm of the novel. Mujila speaks three African languages as well as French, English and German. In his texts, he is a kind of translator of himself, of his culture, as he said in an interview.
His poems combine different lyrical traditions. Literary scholar Dr. Moustapha Diallo will lead the conversation with the author. He has lived in Graz for many years. He writes poetry, prose and plays. He also teaches African literature at the university.
