Coming from the production team behind last year's Mr Bates vs The Post Office, which triggered a massive national response, this new show also stars the likes of Robert Carlyle and Toby Jones. But following the release of the show's first-look images, ITV viewers have took a jibe at the star for his appearance. The synopsis reads: 'Running parallel, the story of the investigation into the unsolved murder of private investigator Daniel Morgan, led by former Met Police Detective Chief Superintendent Dave Cook Robert.
ITV released first-look images from the show, with one showing David looking worlds apart from his usual self as he sported grey hair while he stood in a newsroom. Another snap showed Robert on the banks of the Thames across from the Houses of Parliament. In David accepted damages and an apology over phone hacking at the News of the World.
The Broadchurch star was among six individuals who settled their claims for misuse of private information and breach of confidence at London's High Court. David launched legal action March following the scandal and has been awarded substantial compensation.
