Rosin is a physician-scientist. After 3 years of experience in the tech industry, he has decided to pursue his life-long dream and started his MD degree at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel. His PhD project culminated in a Neuron publication describing a new method for DBS application, which is currently being explored in a clinical trial administered by Medtronic with his former PI, Professor Hagai Bergman.
He has completed both MD and PhD degrees with distinction in and received numerous awards for his work. Rosin completed his Ophthalmology residency and first vitreoretinal fellowship at the Hadassah-Hebrew University Medical Center, Jerusalem, Israel, where, under the supervision of Professor Eyal Banin, he almost immediately developed a keen interest in IRDs and assumed the role of the retinal electrophysiology unit co-director, together with Professor Banin.
After completing his first fellowship, looking to broaden his surgical education and knowledge base of IRDs, he performed his second vitreoretinal fellowship at UPMC. Here, under the supervision of Dr. Sahel, he continued to be involved in the treatment and electrophysiological assessment of IRDs and received a thorough surgical training under the supervision of Dr.
Eller and the attending physicians of the vitreoretinal service. He is a vitreoretinal surgeon performing all types of vitreoretinal surgery and seeing all types of retinal patients; however, his main interest remains the field of IRDs.
His lab collaborates with many laboratories at the Vision Institute, providing functional assessment of visual function and functional vision in animal models visual disorders. He continues a close collaboration with Dr. Sahel on research and publications topics related to IRDs. Rosin is a recipient of the Career Development Award by the Foundation Fighting Blindness, the largest non-profit dedicated to patient care and the development of treatments for IRDs.
