Roam gives Grindr users the ability to temporarily change their location if they're going on a trip, so they can check out the local scene and chat with potential connections before they even pack their bags.
Users will be able to select a new location for their profiles for up to an hour, allowing them to connect with and talk to locals in order to set up a future meeting. Roam is currently in testing in several markets and will be launched broadly in the third quarter of this year. Roam is the just the first new feature Grindr is rolling out this year as a part of its "Gayborhood" initiative.
Upcoming features will include the ability to find LGBTQ-friendly doctors and therapists, more options to specify what users are looking for, and recommendations to restaurants and fitness centers that will have a "Grindr seal of approval.
