Our shop received a shipment of long round bars of stock. The shop supervisor went to every employee and warned them not to use or cut this material until he had approved it. It was a Sunday, so there were three of us working. Later, I saw the shift supervisor loading some of the stock into a large saw. As was typical of this supervisor, he knew everything and needed no help from any of us.
After about an hour of cutting, he approached me and asked if I knew the dimension of the length of said stock.
After a day of running the saw, he boasted that this was complete. I said nothing. The following morning, [Shop Supervisor] called me into his office.
This was all news to me, as I had not been involved whatsoever. I had completed another job, and my finished work was on the bench to be delivered. I pointed to my work. I told [Shift Supervisor] to check the blueprint and check with you.
Shortly after this episode, [Shift Supervisor] retired with no fanfare. Not long after that, I also retired. The flight attendants are coming down the aisle with the drinks cart. They get to the passenger ahead of me. The flight attendant sighs, pours a small amount of vodka into a cup, and then gets the hot coffee jug and pours some black coffee over it. A customer is angry with me because I have called them due to being behind on their bill.
