Larimer County will soon join the City of Fort Collins and other local municipalities in reviewing the new codes. We hope the energy code, as well as the Significant Changes books, will be published soon. Until then, please see this list of key changes.
Due to delayed publication of the energy code, which slowed the work of a related Fort Collins energy code development committee, the formal code review process is being postponed about six months.
The next meeting of our joint code review committee, which consists of building and fire code officials, homebuilders, engineers, architects, and other interested parties, is now expected in January, More information and a zoom link will be published when they are available.
The state is also working on a model wildfire hazard mitigation code due out by July 1, , as well as a model energy code due out next Summer. Rather than review and adopt new codes, then amend them or adopt new ones a few months later, we plan to include all the new codes including the state codes. That means our codes will probably take effect on January 1, Other local municipalities are planning for the same effective date for new codes.
