The change has been extremely controversial, with many visitors who previously qualified for DAS finding they were no longer eligible under the revised policy. This has sparked hope among those previously denied DAS that Disney may be open to a wider range of disabilities, including guests with strictly physical limitations that also limit their ability to wait in line.
As before, guests should schedule a pre-arrival conversation to determine eligibility and register for DAS at least two days prior to arrival.
However, in another change, effective February 1 visitors can now schedule those pre-arrival conversations up to 60 days in advance of a trip, rather than 30 days. This gives visitors more time to plan, and to create alternate plans in the event they are denied for the DAS. At Disneyland, visitors can schedule pre-arrival conversations via the Disneyland website.
If someone arrives at the Resort without having completed the process, they can talk in person with an accessibility services cast member at the resort at a kiosk in the esplanade between Disneyland and DCA. For Walt Disney World visitors, a pre-arrival virtual video chat is still the best way to determine eligibility for the DAS between 2 and 60 days before arrival. Guests who arrive on property without having completed the screening can have the virtual video chat the morning of their visit, but Disney strongly suggests doing it in advance to save time.
If approved, the visitors is enrolled for the length of their ticket so they do not need to repeat the process during their trip.
