Krump originated as Afro-diasporic dance culture on the streets of Los Angeles and is based on rebellion against social inequality and discrimination. For many dancers, Krump is still a place of refuge and a substitute for family. Krump stands for community. It's about showing up and supporting each other. For Gregor, who does not dance Krump herself but comes from physical theater, this is an appealing but also sensitive environment for artistic work on the subject of participation and self-empowerment.
