I started reading the Dresden Files books expecting a quality fantasy story, and I got an annoying protagonist, a plot without direction, side characters with no relevance.
Bob the Skull, who could be interesting but is one of the worst love interests in fiction for now. Not to mention that it's a rip off of Harry Potter, which is not bad at all, since same concepts can be reworked for different targets and there was no story with such concept for adults, but the whole plot structure is the same of Harry Potter and it's beyond a coincidence: -Both protagonists are orphans!
There's some differences like Dresden being full of himself and trying to act like a rockstar, blatant sex since Dresden Files is for adults, including that he is raped by a fairy girl.
But the story structure and tropes are the same. And JK does it better despite her books being for YA, since her side characters and world is way more developed and every book can stand as it's own. Don't take me wrong, reinventing and using the same concept for different targets is not a bad thing. But I saw people denying the similarities, and again, I didn't get the deal with the story since it goes nowhere and most characters are flat.
The only character that imo is done better in Dresden Files Mouse, he is more interesting than Ron who is not bad as well , but even so he is way less developed. I almost made one of these too xD But like, the opposite. Kingkiller isn't a copy of Harry Potter Him blocking us just hides our posts from him, right? People that come here and search "Kingkiller" and see that topic aren't going to be deprived of our counter points?
