This month I would like to share with you the pictures and article sent to me by Tony Kemp recalling his time at college. I was at Strawberry Hill from to I did Drama and Junior Course. I have only recently become aware of the alumni group s as a result of hearing about the Honorary Degree awards. I have kept some bits and pieces from college days attached.
Others in your group might remember. I played a policeman. The second page is messages to me from the various members of the cast. The back page is thanks to various people who helped.
The second item 2 pages is a college publication. From memory, it was published quite regularly. I kept this one because I liked some of the poems.
The reverse was an article written by Peter Crawford entitled 'The Critics' about a recent art exhibition. The third item is the publicity poster advertising 'The Fantastic Tragedy of Punch and Judy', a play written and produced by Jan Farquharson, a lecturer in the Drama Department at the time.
He invited a group of us former drama students to put it on at the Edinburgh Fringe in the summer of , the year after we left. On the final night, there were about 6 people in the audience. When the lights came up after the first scene-change, there were three left watching. At the next lights-up, there were nobody, so we packed up and went to the pub. I wonder if any of the group were involved in either play, or perhaps even wrote one of the poems. He says about it. I hope you will be interested in this photograph, taken on the day.
